Dove Prisms

Dove prisms have two main uses  - as image inverters and as delay lines.   In an image forming system, the image is inverted by the prism.  Furthermore, if the prism is rotated about the optical axis, the image rotates at twice the rate of rotation.   In an optical transmission system the longer optical path through the prism can introduce a known delay.

 Dove prisms are normally supplied uncoated but entrance and exit faces can be anti-reflection coated.  We can accommodate any special coating requirement on request.

Two different materials are offered:  UVFS, BK7.

 We can supply dove prisms in the following standard sizes: 6, 8, 10, 12.7, 25.4 mm.  Other sizes will be considered on special request.
