Calcium & Magnesium Fluoride Windows
Calcium
Fluoride and Magnesium Fluoride have excellent transmission in the UV.
They
are often used to make windows with high transmittance from below 150 nm and
extending throughout the visible range.
These
materials are relatively soft and somewhat hygroscopic so polishing and coating
and handling are more critical than for Fused Silica windows.
The
quality of a UV window can be extremely critical. It should be of high purity and polish in order not to affect
the optical system. When large
pressure differences are anticipated across the window extra thickness will be
required to hold the flatness and parallelism specifications.
Calcium
Fluoride and Magnesium Fluoride UV windows can be supplied in the following
sizes and specifications:
Diameter: 10.0,
12.7, 19.1, 20.0, 25.4,30.0, 38.1, 40.0, 50.8 mm
Flatness: λ/10,
λ/4
Parallelism: 10 arcsec, 3 arcmin
These
windows are uncoated, but coatings may be applied if required — please ask.
