Angle Prisms
Right
angle prisms make useful reflecting elements in any optical system.
They are convenient to mount and can be used for both 90° and 180° beam
bending.
Light incident normal to one of the faces is totally internally reflected
at the next face producing high efficiency reflection even without coating.
However, in order to accommodate a wider range of input angles, coating
the reflecting face is recommended. Entrance
and exit faces should also be anti-reflection coated.
Three different materials are offered:
UVFS, BK7 and SF2.
These
prisms are offered with four coating options:
Uncoated
– no coating at all
AR
on legs – no coating on hypotenuse
AR
on legs – protected Al on hypotenuse
AR
on hypotenuse – protected Al on legs
We can supply right angle prisms in a wide range of sizes including: 1.5, 2.0,
3.0, 3.2, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 6.35, 8.0, 10.0, 12.7, 15.0, 20.0, 25.4, 38.1, 50.8 or
76.2 mm.
Often right angle prisms are used as substrates for special coatings.
They may also be cemented together to form beamsplitter cubes.
